Here's a quick little tip that probably won't help any of my regular readers right at this moment, but I'm posting it anyway, because it seems that my Sonic Riders / DDR Wii Trouble Shooting post helped several people who found it through Google.
For Mother's Day this year, Eric and the kids got me a 16 gb iPod Touch (an upgrade from my 30 gb iPod video). I was so psyched! I'll admit it -- I love gadgets. And, I love music. So, an iPod is like the ultimate gadget for me.
I was thrilled to use it right away. I love how it comes charged and ready to go! And, use it we did. It wasn't long before I had the message popping up at me that there was less than 20% charge left.
No problem, I thought, and went ahead and charged it. Or, at least I thought I did. I had it plugged in for hours and it didn't charge. To say that I was worried about this expensive little gadget at this point would be putting it mildly.
I searched around online for answers, and didn't seem to get any. The most "helpful" solutions seemed to indicate that I just had to buy a wall charger and charge it like that.
You know what? After spending $280 on something, I really didn't want to go out and spend more money on a charger that I didn't feel like I needed. So, I tried again to charge it. Still nothing.
Finally, after so many frustrating attempts at doing things in different ways, trying different cords (just in case I was using the wrong one), and hoping for the best, I finally was rewarded for all of my efforts.
I plugged in my iPod while it was turned on, and then it charged just fine! Yep...it was as simple as that. I was used to turning my iPod video off while charging it (just because I didn't see a good reason to keep it on). But, my iPod Touch will apparently only charge when it is turned on.
I don't know if I just have a Touch with a glitch or if they are all like that, but in my online reading, it seemed like I was finding a lot of people with the same problem. So, maybe it's not just a glitch with mine.
Hope maybe this will help someone ease their frustration a little more quickly than mine was!

It also won't charge on a laptop if the laptop in standby mode (like if the lid is closed).

Hey -- great point, Keith! I hadn't tried to do it, but that makes sense as well.
