Our Homeschool Classroom

This summer, the room that we use as a toy room and school room was a mess. But, now as we have ventured into the beginning of the school year (today!), I finally got it all cleaned up and organized. (What a huge relief!)

The boxes that I plan to use for Work Boxes for the kids (once I can get that organized; these are modified from the actual Work Boxes system)

We added a bulletin board this year. I thought it would be nice to be able to put things up occasionally. Although not shown here, it currently has our latest art assignment from each of the kids posted.

Our white board had been just sitting on top of the book shelf (last year), but Eric hung it up for me this year, and it really seems to be working really well so far. (I had told him not to hang it up before, though I'm not really sure why now.)

Our bookshelf, which I store all of our current books on. Because we have a lot of books with Winter Promise this year, we only put up the Winter Promise books that we are actually using right now (and put the rest in a basket all together in the closet).

Baskets of books, paper, art supplies, and a variety of school supplies all stored on shelves that Eric built into the closet.

Our work area, complete with a seat for each of us:

Eric converted our coat closet into a storage closet when we were still working on school at our dining room table. We're still using this for storage now, but it is considerably more organized now that we don't have to store everything in it.

This looks really nice. You have done a great job! I am still to post mine. It is a bit more difficult since we do not have a school room per se. The walls of the house and the dinning table are our school room. We'll see what I can come up with. Love seeing your pics though. HHave a great day!

Angie, Where did you get your drawer systems that you plan to use for workboxes? I looked for something like that for us, but at the time all I could find were deeper drawers.
We are using file boxes and folders now, but they are kind of annoying...to me anyway.

April -- I got them at Walmart. They were on clearance, I believe. I just got them last week though. It was only a set of three of them for $9. So, each stack is three of those sets. (The were originally $14.) The drawers are sized to fit 12x12 paper.

Soothing choice of colours. I like how the closet is organized, too! Have a great year!

Well, I can't say that I would have picked two colors of pink for the school room (LOL), but it was painted when it was our daughter's room.

Oh, boy. . . someone's doing the tornado experiment! That was always one of my kids favorite!
