I have really been wanting to learn how to knit. Eric and the kids were nice enough to let me pick out a few things from Amazon.com for my birthday in December, and one thing I got was The Complete Beginner's Guide to Knitting that people were just raving about. (That's also when I got the fabulous Stitch-It Kit
that helped me learn to embroider for the first time.)
Anyway, I have to admit -- I haven't opened the DVD yet. But, after months of having a set of Knifty Knitter looms, I finally just broke down and opened the package on Monday evening of this week. Molly was thrilled, since she has been asking me to make her a hat ever since I bought the loom set.
Having never done any knitting (or a loom or otherwise), I was thrilled to put in only a couple of hours, and to end up with a cutie hat that
Molly was thrilled with. I also realized that this would be a great activity for older kids, who could easily master the basic loom use after being shown how to do it.
I still definitely want to learn to knit with needles at some point (maybe during the summer when we have more free time), but for now, I'm thrilled to be able to do some loom knitting until then. I have to admit, the whole time I was making the hat, I kept smiling as I watched the hat grow.
I am always thankful when I get to tackle a project that I have been wanting to do for a while, especially when it is something fun!
I'm also thankful that I have a husband who will help me figure out written directions (I'm such a visual learner!), and thankful also for that little girl with a goofy preschool forced grin, because she was so pleased with my homemade hat.

It looks awesome. Homemade anything is the best!!!!! Knitting is the one thing I have not ventured into, yet. Can't wait to see what other creations you come up with!!!
Wow, great job! Knitting is something that I've always wanted to be able to do. Unfortunately I'm SUPER uncoordinated and have never been able to pick it up. Maybe I'll try a loom and just tell people I knit by hand, LOL.
I love to knit...haven't tried the loom knitting but I have seen it done before. Isn't great to tackle something fun once in a while!
Have a great week!
That is so adorable! This is my goal for the fall. My sister is great at knitting and I am hoping she will teach me!
I don't knit but my daughter was given the looms by a friend. It does seem like it would make things a lot easier.
That's a great tackle. Knit a hat in just a few hours! Great job.
Great knitting job. The hat is super cute. I've always wanted to try to knit, too, but I've never gotten around to it.
This sounds like a good excuse to get together, as I do knit and would be happy to very patiently show you how! It truly isn't hard, it just takes some practice.
The hat is super cute!! Can you make me one? :) I don't knit, although I learned to do a simple knit when I was young, but just didn't enjoy it like my mom and grandma do. It always seems like fun though. It is an amazing feeling when you take the time to do a project that you have been wanting to do for a while. I am glad that you enjoyed it so much!
I love my looms!!! I knit as well, but I love the looms and how quick you can get stuff done! Bravo!! :)
